Alive 1900.

Paroled 4/27/65 in Isle of Wight Co., postwar Died (heart disease and old age) 1/31/08) age 82

Hardy DUKE, enlisted 3/1/62 at Suffolk , Company C , private. Present 9/62 to 1/1/65. 1/1/63 - 4/11/63 no horse. Captured at "Five Forks" and released 6/11/65 from Point Lookout after oath: In Chimborazo 1/13 -25/64. In Petersburg Hosp 8/31/62 - 9/18/62. born 1832 died 4/1/12. Buried Norfolk City at Churchland Baptist Church Cemetery.

Hospitalized 11/18/63. Record suggest that at sometime Duke was exchanged and discharged 10/6 at "Wilsons Ford’ ,arrived 10/8 at ‘Old Capitol Prison’ Washington D C. sent north 12/17/63. took oath.

Daniel DUKE, enlisted at Portsmouth in the Virginia Rangers as a private at the age of 21. Company transfered 8/8/62 as Co.’H’ 61st Va. Hospitalized the spring of 1863, returned to duty, captured 7/63 at Gettysburg, sent to Point Lookout MN, hospitalized 11/11 in Hammond U.S.A. Gen. Hosp. at Pt Lookout,died (diarrhea and scurvy) 11/22/63.

Francis DUKE, enlisted 3/6/62 at Portsmouth in the Virginia Rangers as a private at the age of 20. Company transfered,8/8/62 as Co.’H’ 61st VA. Killed in action 5/3/63 at Chancellorsville, post war. Listed on Confederate Roll of Honor.

Served as a private in Co’B’ Cohoons Battalion VA inf. Transfered 8/8/62 to Co I, 61st. Hospitalized in the fall of 1862. returned to duty, wounded,7/30/64 at the ‘Crater’, hospitalized (debility) 10/3 in C.S.A. Gen Hospital at Danville. Transfered 11/26/64 to another hospital. Hospitalized 4/7 in Jackson Hosp. at Richmond, turned over to the Provost 4/14. remained in hospital,tranfered 4/23 from Libby Prison in Richmond to Newport News, took oath 6/14/65.

Robert DUKE, enlisted at Suffolk in Capt James R Doughtries Co as a private; served in Co’B’, Cohoons battalion VA Inf., transfered 8/8/62 to Co I 61st VA. Hospitalized 9/25/62 (ulcer of the left leg). 9/14 in Chimborazo, detailed 10/30/63 as hospital guard, detailed 5/1/64 to Provost duty, returned 6/24/64 to Company, sick in the summer of 1864, paroled 4/9/65 at Appomattox C.H.
