[RSA Note: With the recording of personal property taxes we are able to see the transactions and trades that were made -at least between the DUKE family - or assumptions that they were between the DUKE’s. For example in 1816 Kedar Duke owned 5 slaves and 5 horses. According to the 1817 Kedar list he acquired or traded 1 slave for 1 horse(6 slaves vs. 4 horses). A cross check with the ‘Clerk Fee Book’ we should be able to track that transaction -if recorded. That year Hardy Duke increased his slave ownership from 2 to 8 and his horses from 1 to 2 - did he trade Hardy a slave for a horse? Did he need more laborers for picking crops than transporting them ?Hardy owned about 85 more acres than Kedar (see 1810) thus more crops to manage. - Much can be learned from these records and much must be assumed, but these are the ONLY records we have.]

[CFD Note: Elizabeth shows up on the tax roles with 1 WM -- could be a young son. Compare slaves vs. horses from the previous year and you see that when one goes up or down so does someone elses.]
