[Several people have enquired about the extent of my research.  I am extracting this information from notebooks that I have compiled over nearly 40 years of research. My Duke research includes VA, SC, GA, some AL and FL. These postings are unordered as one can tell because they come from random notes.  Please realize that I have probably made mistakes in transcription. I went to all these county courthouses and transcribed these notes from the original records by hand. I was always working on limited time so I very likely left out some pertinent information. One needs to review the individual record to verify what I have compiled.  I hope that they can be of benefit to a Duke researcher. -- Joe Lineberger

[Just wanted to let Duke(s) researchers know that there are two Duke collections of interest that a serious researcher might want to look at.  These are the Robinson Collection located in the Georgia Archives in Atlanta, GA and the Curry Collection located in the college library at Chapel Hill, NC.

Ms. Robinson was a genealogist from Coweta County in the early part of the 20th Century.  She accumulated a thick folder on Duke(s) mainly in the central GA area.  I have read through most of it but is quite thick.  Has data from interviews of people long deceased.

The Curry sisters were professional genealogists in the early part of the 20th Century from Washington, DC.  Did quite a bit of work for people trying to prove their relationship to Washington Duke of NC in order to inherit part of the tobacco fortune.  Some Ga material.  Not as lengthy as the Robinson collection but interesting.  I have read through it.  Joe ]
