"A mem'l exhibited by Thomas Duke, to be regis'd in the Aud'r office of a plantation or Tract of 100 acres of Land Situate in Craven County on the waters of 25 Mile Creek, being a branch of Wateree River, bounding NE'ward part on William Furguson's Land and part Vacant NW'ward on Vacant Land SW ward part on Willian Simmom's Land and part on Vacant, & SE'ward on Vacant Land Survey certified the 23rd of Oct'r 1773 & Granted the 31st of August 1774 to the memorialist" (abbreviated phrase 'Quit Rent three shillings sterling, or four shillings proclamation money') "per hundred acres to Commence Two Year from this date In Witness Whereof he hath hereunto Set his hand 15th Feb'y 1775 Dld" (delivered) "13th July 1775 to Robert Duke"
