By the honorable the Judges of the County Court of Fairfield

To Richard Burge

Whereas Nancy Burge an Orphan has chosen you as and for her guardian -- and whereas the law hath invested us, with the power of approving or disapproving of such Choice and also of auditing the amounts and Reckonings of such Guardians and their final Dismission within our County -- In order that the goods and Chattles Rights and Credits of said Orphan may be well managed and taken care of -- We do hereby grant onto you the said Richard Burge upon special Trust and Confidence, full power by the tenor of these presents to act as Guardian to the said Nancy Burge, and to Possess Yourself of the Goods and Chattles Rights and Credits of or belonging to the said Orphan within the County and State or elsewhere, and also to ask sue for levy and receive the same and to pay all just Debts and Claims on the said Orphan or her Estate so far forth as her Goods and Chattles Rights and Credits will extend, and to do all things in the premises which the law empowers Guardians to do -- and to make a true Return to, Us, at a Court to be holden in Winnsbro on the sixteenth day of January next, of all Goods and Chattles Rights and Credits, of, or belonging to the said Orphan Nancy Burge, and also to make a true Return and Statement of your Doings in the premisis annually untill the said Orphan shall attain the age of twenty one years.
