"John Wilson & Richd Taylor Guardians to Hestor Dukes, Anne Dukes, Jesse Dukes

To Ms. John Wilson and Richard Taylor

Whereas Hester Dukes, Anne Dukes & Jesse Dukes orphans appeared before us in open Court on the 12th Instant and chose You as their Guardians, and whereas the Law hath Invested us with the power of approving or disproving of such choices and also auditing the amounts and Reckonings of such Guardians and their final Dismission within our County. In Order that the Goods and Chattels Rights and Credits of or belonging to the said orphans may be well managed and Taken care of We do hereby Grant unto You the said John Wilson & Richard Taylor upon special Trust and Confidence full power by the tenor of these presents to act as guardians to the said Hester Dukes Anne Dukes and Jesse Dukes and to possess yourself of the goods and Chattles rights and Credits for or belonging to the said orphans within this state or elsewhere also to ask for Levey and receive the same and to pay Just Debts and Claims on the said orphans or their estate so far forth as their Goods & Chattles Rights and Credits will Extend and to Do all things in the premises which the law impowers guardians to do and to make a true return to us at our next Court of all Goods and Chattles Rights and Credits of the said Hester Duke Anne Duke and Jesse Dukes upon oath and also to make a true return and statement of your doings in the premises annually until the said orphans attain the age of one and twenty.
