"Thomas Dugan formerly falling into discord with John
Bell and met from the Combat with a deprivation of a member so Precious
as an ear an Organ of innestimable value on motion it is ordered to be
recorded that the same was as aforsaid without a License or the Law making
the said punishment but contrary to good order or common Peace in
nature The same was acknowledged in open court by the said John Bell the
Author of the Mischief to be done in a Riot & the same was ordered
to be Recorded"
