"South Carolina Fairfield District
Know all men by these presents that I David Foster of said State and District for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Samuel Duke of the same state and District have granted bargained Sold and by these presents do bargain Sell and release unto the sd Samuel Dukes fifty acres of Land more or Less Situated on the Flat branch the waters of twenty five mile Creek waters of the wateree river the sd branch being the line on the South Side bounded N. W. by Meredith Wilsons Lands S. E. by Said Foster's own land it being in exact of Four Hundred and fifty acres originally Granted to Quentin McCrite Sr the seventeenth day of March Seventeen Hundred Seventy five under the hand of William Bull Esqr recorded in the Secretarys Office in Book W. W. W. & page 352 reference being had will more fully appear with all and singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining to have and to hold all and Singular The premises herein before mentioned unto the Saml Duke his heirs and assigns forever & I do hereby bind my Self my Heirs Executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and Singular the Said premises unto the said Samuel Duke his Heirs and assigns against my Self my heirs and against all other person or persons Claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof as Witness my hand and Seal the 13th day of March 1817

personally appeared before me Absalom H. Weathersbee after being duly sworn as the law directs saith on oath that he saw the within named david Foster sign seal & deliver the within deed of conveyance for the use & purpose within mentioned & he Further saw the within named James D. Craig sign as a witness with himself. Sworn to before me this 12th Day of April 1817.
