Kershaw District, SC Deed Book D, page 51

"This Indenture made this twenty sixth day of July in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and Two and in the Seventy six year of American Indpendence between Stephen Dukes of the State of South Carolina and Kershaw District and Thomas Thomas of the State and District aforesaid Witnessth that the said Stephen Dukes for and in considertion of the Sum of one hundred Dollars to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Thomas the Receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged doth grant bargain sell ??? and ??? unto the Said Thomas Thomas a certain parcel or Tract of Land containing one hundred and twenty four Acres more of less situate on a branch of Beaver Creek in said district the same being part of Five hundred Acres granted to Jesse Jiles on the 14th day of July in the year of our Lord seventeen hundred and ninety The aforesaid one hundred and twenty four Acres more or less out of the North E Corner of Said Tract as it was formerly laid off and conveyed from the said Jesse Jiles to the Said Stephen Dukes To have and to hold all and singular the Premises before mentioned with all the Appurtenances thereto belonging or ??? or incident or Appurtaining unto Thomas Thomas his heirs Administrators and Assigns and I the said Stephen Dukes do for myself my heirs Administrators and Assigns do warrant and forever defend the aforesaid one hundred and twenty four Acres more of less unto the said Thomas Thomas his Heirs Administrators and Assigns against all Claim or Claims of any Person or Persons claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal the day and Year first above written

Kershaw District for Thomas Archer personally Appeared before me and made Oath that he was present and saw the within Stephen Duke sign seal and as his Act and deed deliver the within Deed for the use and Purpose therein mentioned and that Barbara Hibb and Franass Nixon subscribed their Names with himself as Witness to the due Execution thereof Sworn to before me this 26 July 1802
