Know all men by these presents that I Jesse Duke of the aforesaid state and district planter that for and in consideration of the sum of three Hundred and fifty dollars to me in hand paid by David Crumpton of the same state and district planter have granted bargained sold and released and by these presents do grant bargain sell and release unto the said David Crumpton a plantation or tract of land containing one hundred and fifty acres situate in Craven County now said District West side of Wateree river on both sd of Sawneys bounded East on land granted to Hardy Jerkins all other sides on vacant land and such shape form and mark as the represents? of the plot to the original grant annexed originally granted unto William Howard under the hand of Wm? Bull Esqre dated the fifteenth day of May in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy one recorded in the secretaries office in Book HHH page ??? reference being had will more fully appear now the ??? William Howard did transfer the above premises unto ??? Muse of said district by lease and release dated the ?? of December in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy nine and the said Jesse Duke Legally invested at this time with full power and lawful authority to make sale and transfer the Said above ??? hundred and fifty acres of land unto the aforesaid David Crumpton by the premises of the last will and testament of his father Robert Dukes and by a deed and gift ??? to him under the hand of the aforesaid Daniel Muse dated the 14th day of march in the year of our lord ???? Together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances to the said pemises ???ing or in any wise incident or appurtaining To have and to hold all and singular the premises herein mentioned unto the said David Crumpton his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind myself and my heirs Execrs and admrs to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said David Crumpton his heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs and against every other person whomsoever lawfully ???ing or to claim the same or any part thereof

Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this day of November in the year of our lord 1801 (signed) Jesse (his x mark) Duke (seal)

Before me personally appeared David Montgomery and after being duly sworn saith that saw Jesse Duke sign seal & deliver the within deed of conveyance to David Crumpton for the use and purpose therin mentioned & that he saw John Greagg and William Wilson sign as Witnesses with himself (signed) David Montgomery
