"State of S. Carolina Fairfield district
Know all men By these presents that, I, Samuel Duke of the state and district aforsaid planter for and in consideration of the Sum of two hundred dollars to me in hand paid by James Craigg planter of the place aforsaid the receipt whereof is hereby Considered?? and acknowledged have Bargained and sold and by these presents do Bargain and sell unto the said James Craigg ???? tract ???? of Land containing ninety three Acres more or Less Situated in the Said district on both sies of round Top branch waters of twenty five mile Creek waters of the Wateree river seventy three acres of which being granted unto the said Samuel Duke by pattent bearing date the Sixth day of September one thousand eight hundred and two under the hand of his Excellency John Drayton Esqr. recorded in the Secretarys Office in Grant book H? H? H? page 24 Together with one other tract Containing twenty acres more or less Lying and being on the So West Side and adjoining to the said seventy three acres makeing in the whole ninety three acress be the same more or Less bounded So West by the estate of John Wilsons and SE by Nippers old Survey N E. by Lemuel Perrys and NW by Moses and Aaron Dukes Land Said twenty acres being a part of a Tract Surveyed for Samuel Nipper and Conveyed unto the Said Samuel Duke by Patrick Norris by deed bearing date the Second day of January one Thousand eight hundred and Six from said Nippers land by a Branch of Roundtop running in a north and South Direction
Together with all and Singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise Incident or appertaining to have and to hold the aforesaid ninety three acres more or Less unto the Said James Craig his heirs and assigns forever and the said Samuel duke do hereby bind myself my heirs executors and administrators and assigns to warrent and forever defend all and Singular the Said premises unto the Said James Craig his heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs and against every other person or persons whomever Lawfully Claiming or to Claim the Same or any part thereof In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 2d day of March in the jear of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Sixteen and of the Sovereignly and Independance of the united States of america the fortieth Signed Sealed and delivered in presence of
