"State of South Carolina

Know all men by these presents that I James Crenshaw of Lancaster District for and in consideration of Six Hundred Dollars to me in hand paid by Authur Hicklin of Chester District & State aforesaid have granted Bargained sold & released & by thes presents do grant bargain sell & release unto the said Arthur Hicklan all that plantation or tract of land containing two Hundred Acres origionally granted to William Ashley situate on the East side of the Cawtaba River in the District of Lancaster lying on Camp creek & Dry Creek Waters of the Cawtaba River bounded on lands on the North belonging to Middleton McDonald formerly Thomas Howze & Mrs Cornelia West on land of Jno Johnston formerly William Tillman South on Jno Browns land formerly Jesse Tillman East on Lands of Henry Horton formerly Joseph Crenshaws which said tract of land of two hundred acres More or less was conveyed to the said James Crenshaw by Jno Chesnut of Camden Togeather with all & singular the Rights Members Hereditements & appurtances to the said tract belonging or in any wise incident or appurtainging To have & To hold all & singular the premises before mentioned unto the said Arthur Hicklin his Heirs & Assigns for ever & do hereby bing myself my heirs Executors Administrators to warrant & forever defend all & Singular the premises before mentioned unto the said Arthur Hicklin against myself my Heirs & against every person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to Claim the same or any part thereof. The condition of the above Deed of Conveyance is such that if the above James Crenshaw as well & truly pay & discharge in Six Months a certain dept or Contract made with the Exors of the Estate of Col Arch'd Gills Dec'd to the amount of between four or five Hundred Dollars which the s'd Arthur Hicklin stand surety for & also other just debts or acom? pts? due now to the said Arthur Hicklin from or by the said James Crenshaw which will be exhibited in a Statement of ??? then the above deed of Conveyance to be null & void otherwise to stand in full force & virture in Law
Witness my hand & seal this 8th of April Anno Domini 1811 It being the thirty fifth & Sixth year of American Independance

Personally came before me Wm Stevens and being duly sworn as law directs saith that he saw the within Janes Crenshaw sign Seal & deliver the within Instrument of writing to Arthur Hicklan for the purposes therein mentioned & also saw Jasen Hicklan subscribe his name as a witness Sworn to & Subscribed this 2 day of Oct 1811
