Lancaster Deed Book F, page 247, Deed conveyance, John Chesnut to James Crenshaw
"State of South Carolina

Know all man by these presents that I John Chesnut of the District of Kershaw in the State aforesaid planter in Consideration of the sum of Three Hundred dollars to me paid by James Crenshaw of Lancaster District in the State afores'd hath granted, Bargained, sold, and released, and by these presents do grant bargain, sell, and release, unto the said James Crenshaw all that plantation or tract of Land Containing two hundred Acres /more or Less/ situate lying and being on Camp Creek, waters of the Catawba River Bounded by Benjamin Cooks and Elizabeth Cornelius Land when laid out which said tract of two hundred Acres of Land was originally granted to William Ashley on the fourth day of November one thousand seven hundred & Seventy two and Regularly Conveyed unto the said John Chesnut having such shape form, and marks as appears by the plat thereof to the grant Annexed, Together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments, and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in any wise incident or appurtaining To have And to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said James Crenshaw his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind myself my heirs executors and Administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said James Crenshaw his heirs and assigns, against myself and heirs and against every person whomever, lawfully Claiming or to Claim the same or any part thereof Witness my hand and seal this seventh day of June in the year of our lord one thousand eight hundred and five and in the twenty ninth year of the Independance of the United States of America

Personally appeared before me Micajah Crenshaw declareth and saith that he saw John Chesnut sign seal and deliver the within Instrument of writing for the purposes therein mentioned and saw Benjamin Carter sign with himself as a Witness to the same
Sworn to before me this 27th day of July 1805
