Fairfield District, SC Deed Book M, pages 163-164

"The State of South Carolina
Know all men by these presents that I Jonathan Belton of fairfield County in the state aforesaid Merchant for and in Consideration of forty pounds Current money to me paid by Richard Burge Jun?? of the same County and state aforesaid planter have granted bargained Sold and Released and by these presents do Grant bargain sell and Release unto the said Richard Burge all that plantation or tract of land Containing two Hundred acres more or less situate and lying in Camden District on little morrises Creek waters of wateree River on the south west? side of said River Bounding when laid out on all sides by vacant Land? and hath such shapes forms and marks as appears by a platt therein which said Land was granted to Gardner Ford under the hand of? his? Excelancy William Moultre Esq. Governor and Commander in Chief in and? over the state aforesaid and the Great seal of the same Bearing Date first day of January 1787 and Recorded in the secretarys office in grant Book 0000 page 495 and by the said Gardner Ford the said Land was Conveyed unto thomas Mickel by lease and release Bearing date the seventeenth day of september 1790 and Recorded in Fairfield County Clerks office in Book H page 299 -- 300 and by the said Thomas Mickel (now deceased it was Left by Will to and in the power? of the said Jonathan Belton now his Executors to sell and Convey Together with all and singular the rights members hereditaments and appurtenances To the said premises belonging or in any wise Incident or appertaining To have and to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said Richard Burge his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind myself my heirs Executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the Said Richard Burge his heirs and assigns against myself and my heirs and against Every person Whomsoever Lawfully Claiming or to Claim the same or any part thereof -- Witnesseth my hand and seal this thirtieth day of December in the year 1797 and in the twentyth second year of the Independence of the united states of america

Before Nicholas Peay Esq. personally appeared Joseph Michel and made oath that he saw the said? within Named Jonathan Belton sign seal and deliver the within deed? of Conveyance for the use and purpose within Mentioned and further? Says he saw Bird assign his Name as Witness therein? and he the said Joseph did also assign his Name as Witness
