"South Carolina Fairfield District
Know all men by these presenth that I Samuel Duke of fairfield District in the Same State aforesaid for and In consideration of the natural love and affection I have for harriot Duke my natural and for the Purpose of Securing to her a provision which cannot be Defeated in case of my dying Intestate She not being Capable of taking by decent any part of my Estate and for and in consideration of one dollar to me in hadn paid by the Said Harriet the receipt Wheeof is hereby acknowledged to have Granted Bargained and Sold and By these presents do grant Bargain and Sell and in plain and open market Deliver to the Said harriet the personal property following that is to say two negro Girls named Lucy and hannah and their future Increase one feather Bed and furniture five Cows and Calves and one horse to have and to hold the Said negro Girls and their future increase and the Said Cows and Calves horse and furniture to the Said Harriot and the heirs of her Body Lawfully begotten who may be Living at the time of her death provided nevertheless that nothing in this deed Shall be Constituted to deprive me during my natural Life from the use of the property hereby intended to be Conveyed or from receiving the services or hire of the said negros and it is further Declared do to be the true intent and meaning of these presents that the Cows and Calfs horse and feather Bed mentioned in the deed Should not be in existance at the time of my death that then and in that case my Said Daughter Shall be intitled to receive from my Estate property of Like description and equal value but not the but not the Increase of Said Cows and Calves that Shall happen during my Life time and it is further expressly understood that in Case the Said Harriet Should die without having Such heirs of her Body Living att the time of ther death that the and in that Cases the property hereby intended to be conveyed Shall revert Back to me my heirs Executors and administrators Witness my hand and Seal this Day of in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and ten and in the thirty fourth year of the American Independance

before me Personally appeared John Dukes and after Being duly Sworn Saith that he Saw Samuel Dukes Sign Seal and Deliver the within Deed of Gift to Hariot Duke for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and that he Saw Lewis Perry Sine & Witness with himself Sworn to before me this 6th Day of Jan'ry 1810
