Fairfield County
Know all Men by these presents that I Betsy Burge of the County and State aforesaid have bargained and sold, and for the Consideration of the Sum of one hunred and thirty pounds Sterling to me in hand paid by Nathaniel Ford have bargained Sold and delivered unto the said Nathaniel Ford three Negroes, (that is) one Negroe Woman named Tamer, also a Negroe Woman named Patty, and a boy Child named James, Which said Negroes I do Warrant and defend from all persons whatsoever, in Witness where of I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal this 20th day of November 1797--
