"Letters of Guardianship to Elizabeth Burge
by John Buchanan, Ordinary.

Whereas Elizabeth Burge, Widow and Relict of Burrell Burge deceased, has applied to me in behalf of Green Burge, Berryman Burge, Keziah Foard Burge, and Burrell Guardner Foard Burge, Children of the said Burrell Burge, Infants within the age of Forteen Years, to Guardian, to the Said Green Burge, Berryman Burge, Keziah Foard Burge, and Burrell Foard Burge and whereas the Law has invested Me with the Powers of approving or dis-approving of such choices and also of auditing the Actions and Reckonings of guardianship and their final dismission within our District. In order therefore that the goods and Chattles Rights and Credits of the said Green Burge, Berryman Burge, Keziah Foard Burge, and Burrell Gardner Foard Burge May be Well and Truly managed and Taken care of I do hereby grant onto You the said Elizabeth Burge Upon Special trust and confidence, full Power by the Tenor of these Presents to Act as guardian to the Said Green Burge, Berryman Burge, Keziah Foard Burge, and Burrell Gardner Foard Burge and to Possess Yourself of the goods and Chattles, Rights and Credits, of or belonging to the Said Orphans within this District and State, or Else where, also to ask, Sue for Levy and Receive the Same and to pay all Just Debts and Claims on the Said Orphans and their Estates, So far forth as their goods and Chattle, Rights and Credits will extend and to do all things in the Premises which the law Impowers Guardians to do, and to make a Just and true Return and Statement of your Doings in the Premises, Annually until the Said Orphans shall Attain the ages of Twenty one.

Elizabeth Burge :: Bond
Letters of Guardianship

 Know all men by these Presents that We Elizabeth Burge, and Nathan'l Foard of the District and State aforesaid are held and firmly bound and obligated Unto John Buchanan Ordinary for the District of Fairfield or his Successor in office, in the Just and full Sum of three hundred pounds lawfull money of the Said State, for which payment will and truly to be Made and done we bind Our Selves, and each of our heirs, Executers and Administraters, Unto the Said John Buchanan his Successor in office, as aforsaid

Signed With Our hands, Sealed with our Seals, and dated this 14 day of January 1801.

The Said Conditions of the above obligations is Such that wherein Letters of guardianship of Green Burge, Berryman Burge, Keziah Foard Burge, and Burrell Gardner Foard Burge, has this day been granted to Elizabeth Burge. Now Should the Above bound Elizabeth Burge make or cause to be made a true and faithfull Inventory of all and Singlar the goods and Chattles, Rights and Credits of the Said Burrell g Burge, Berryman Burge, Green Burge, Keziah Foard Burge, which shall come onto the Hands, or Possession of the said Elizabeth Burge, and the same so Made, do Exhibit onto the said Court of Ordinary, at such times as they shall be Required by the Said Court.

And the said goods and Chattles, rights and Credits together with all other personal Estate, Rights, Gains & profits of the Real Estate of the said green Burge, Berryman Burge, Burrell Gardner Foard Burge, and Keziah Foard Burge Shall and do will and truly account for during the Minority of the Said green Burge Berryman Burge, gardner Foard Burge and Keziah Foard Burge, and each of them Yearly, and every year, Make a Just and True Return Thereof to the Said Court of Ordinary, and when the said orphans shall come of age respectively, or otherwise be discharged from the Guardianship of the Said Elizabeth Burge fully justly and truly pay to, and account with the said above mentioned orphans, respectively, for all and singular the goods and Chattles, Rights and Credits Grants, Issues and profits of the Estate Personal Shall Come into the hands or Possession of her the Said Elizabeth Burge. then the Above Obligation to be Voided Otherwise to Remain in full force & Virtue.
