Barnwell District Deeds, Book A, page 275, Deed conveyance, Duke to Still
John Dukes to Samuel Still, both of Orangeburg District, 20 pounds lawful money for 50 acres on Fishing Branch of Toby's Creek, part of a 338 acre grant to John Dukes on October 15, 1795. Moses Duke, Charles Nix, and Absolem Causey were mentioned as having grants in same area, same time. Conveyance was dated February 4, 1799. It was witnessed by Thomas Still and Micajah Hughes. Proved March 8, 1799. Recorded November 20, 1802.
